Our selection of new products for May 2024 includes microfleece, adding to our range of sewing supplies. Microfleece is a versatile fabric with many different properties. But wait - what is microfleece?? Read on to find out!
What is microfleece?
Microfleece, also known as microchamois, is a superfine, soft and snuggly fabric, the thinnest and most lightweight fleece available. All microfleece is less than 200gsm, but also comes in a range of different weights; our microfleece comes at 135gsm, 150gsm, and 180gsm. Made of 100% polyester, this cuddly fabric is double-sided brushed, but single-sided anti-pill - that means it doesn't ball up after repeated washing. Microfleece is known for its moisture wicking properties - rather than absorbing the moisture, it wicks the moisture through the fabric and away from the skin, keeping the skin dry.
How can you use microfleece?
Because of its moisture wicking properties, microfleece is commonly used for nappies - it's very soft and keeps baby's skin nice and dry. It's also good for shirts, jumpers, lightweight jackets, vests, and sportswear because it is so lightweight, as well as a whole range of other products - bibs, light blankets and throws, socks, gloves, hats, and even doll clothing!
Our microfleece can be bought from our shop here. Let us know in the comments below what you make with it!!
